note:

• u can find best deals on internet in queenstown. the one im using right now just $3 per hour with high speed. u can get internet too in other places for $5 or $7 per hour but with slow speed.

• backpacker hostel average from $20 to $30 per night usually. but u pay less for a week stay. and some may offer work for accommodation.
• its been almost 1 month now. nothing to tell much actually.

Suncrest Orchard

lama tak update blog sebab tak ada internet connection hehe. post kali ni cerita pasal our orchard, suncrest orchard. located in cromwell, suncrest orchard antara plg besar in south island and the pay is good!

minimum wages of nzd14.50 per hour, kerja 8 jam sehari, 5 hari seminggu. so an average of nzd400++ per week after tax and accommodation ($40 per week). payment dapat by bank deposit and duit pon kua cepat guna debit haha.

the accommodation is quite nice, ours fit 4 person, pastu ada lounge room and kitchen in the next cabin. cabin bawah skali tu kitorang punya pastu bangunan putih tu lounge room.

owner orchard ni baik, pay good money, and care for the staffs. average accommodation price in backpackers dalam range $100-$120 per week, but here its just $40.

u will find a lot of travelers too in this orchard especially during high season. pic bawah ni some of our friends dan ni je yang tinggal untuk end season ni.

nearest town is cromwell (5km), pastu nak happening sikit pegi queenstown (60km) for $10 bus ride.

hello queesntown!

well its saturday and we just got back from pruning/picking. haniz came with his car and hang out for an hour. he has been here for 2 years! started as working holiday visa like us. then he got permanent job n got working visa. i dont think he is going back to malaysia though.

cromwell to queenstown is about 60km and took one hour by car. so u do the math. i dont have any clear picture as we were quite late, but this is the best of scuby n caer with lake harbor at the back.

Mrs jones

our luck just got better! or should i say bitter (in kiwi)??! we're lucky to met klemens, one of the traveler from germany that was kind enough offering us his employer's phone number. now we work at mrs jones with hourly rate of $14 until 31st of march

this is our accommodation in mrs jones for just $6/day. groceries per person around $40. theres nothing much to do here with no transport and deep in the orchard..

Touchdown!

our first day in christchurch was in airport. tido semalaman hoho

Bus to town center was $7 per ride and there aint much city left of chrsitchurch. many hostels have been shut down and all thats left are down to few..

and moving on to cromwell on the next day for jobg hunting. atomic shuttle (one of the buses) was $40 per ride, almost 250km..

New Zealand Working Holiday (NZWH) Scheme

Good morning,

Each year, 1150 places are available under this scheme allowing young citizens of Malaysia to stay in New Zealand for up to six months. For 2012, the visa has been opened at 5am, 4th of Jan. Shockingly, they were sold out just in 2 days.


To Be Eligible
 
You must:

• have a Malaysian passport that‘s valid for at least three months after your planned departure from New Zealand
• be at least 18 and not more than 30 years old
• not bring children with you
• hold a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket*
• have a minimum of NZ$2,250 available funds to meet your living costs while you’re here
• meet our health and character requirements
• be coming to New Zealand to holiday, with work or study being secondary intentions for your visit
• not have been approved a visa under a Working Holiday Scheme before.
